I am Steve Wilson; I have been asked to be your interim pastor at Calvary. Let me introduce myself. I grew up in South Jackson. I went to Alta Woods Baptist Church. I graduated from Wingfield High School in 1978. I have some Calvary connections. Gil Powell was my first best friend. I have known him since we were five years old. John Mark’s father was my youth minister for a time, and he had a major influence on my life.

The Lord called me to preach when I was almost finished with college. I have a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I have a Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I was at my first church in the Arkansas Delta for six years. I moved to Brandon in 1992 and was the pastor of Meadow Grove Baptist Church for 32 years. I retired in January of this year.

My wife, Jane, is a South Jackson girl, too. We have been married 42 years -- she is amazing! We have three sons. My oldest and his wife work at a University in England and we visit him every year. My middle son just earned his Ph.D from New Orleans Seminary and he serves on staff at FBC-Picayune. His wife works for LifeWay. My youngest just finished at Southeastern Seminary and just started a job at Pinelake Madison. His wife works at Belhaven.
I am flawed. I have limits. But God has been so good to me all my life. I look forward to worshipping and serving with you in the days to come. I had some things on my calendar before I accepted this position – so I will be away some in August and September.

I am excited to serve you at Calvary. I am trying to learn names, and I have already met so many wonderful people. I will preach sermons based in the Word of God and intentionally try to connect the Bible to where you are in life. I am totally dependent on the Holy Spirit to speak through me when I preach. I will also shepherd you in your walk with Christ, and do my best to help Calvary discern and follow the will of God.

In Christ,
Steve.
